UPSC formed before our independence. On October 1, 1926 UPSC was formed under chairmanship Sir Ross Barker.

Arvind Saxena is the chairman of UPSC. With him, other board members will look after the Union Public Service Commission.

What are exams conducted by UPSC?

UPSC – Union Public Service Commission conducts the following examinations. All examinations held once in a year. The notification will be available before 3 months in the UPSC official Website. Is there is any separate examination for IAS?

No, there is no separate examination for IAS. People normally think that there is a separate examination to become an IAS. If you want to become an IAS, then you have to appear in the Indian Civil Service Examination conducted by UPSC.

In Civil Service Examination there are 24 different services, in that IAS is the first service allocated to the top rankers. Due to the power and prestige of IAS, aspirants always like to become an IAS officer. So everyone calls it as IAS Examination.
